1. Service Description & Policy Statement

Whiztots Learning provides community-based parent and toddler play sessions, creative workshops, and craft clubs for

children aged 0 to 12. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and protective environment where children can

play, learn, and socialize safely. The welfare and safety of every child attending our sessions is paramount at all times.

2. Parental Attendance & Supervision Responsibility

Active Parental Responsibility: Across all play sessions, drop-in groups, and structured craft workshops, a parent, legal

guardian, or designated adult relative/minder must remain on site in the session area for the entire duration.

No Unsupervised Childcare: Whiztots Learning does not operate as an unsupervised or drop-off childcare facility.

Primary care, physical supervision, and toilet accompaniment remain the sole responsibility of the accompanying parent

or guardian at all times.

3. Code of Conduct for Staff, Facilitators & Volunteers

All session leaders and volunteers agree to:

Treat all children, parents, and carers with equal respect and dignity.

Maintain an open-door, fully visible group setting never be alone with a child in a closed room or isolated area.

Limit physical contact to essential, open demonstrations (e.g., helping a child guide a crochet hook or handle play

equipment), performed in full view of the parent or guardian and with the child’s consent.

Communicate in an encouraging, positive, and safe manner.

4. Equipment, Environment & Health & Safety

Age-Appropriate Play & Craft Materials: All toys, play apparatus, scissors, needles, and tools are chosen to suit the

specific age group attending. High-risk or prohibited hazards are strictly avoided.

Session Risk Assessments: Session areas are checked before each play or workshop session for slips, trips, hot liquids,

or broken toys.

First Aid & Incident Log: A stocked first-aid kit is available on site. Any minor slips, cuts, or incidents during play sessions

or workshops are logged in an official Incident Book.

5. Photography & Digital Media

No photos or videos of participating children will be taken or published on social media/marketing materials without

explicit, written consent from a parent or guardian.

Parents attending play sessions are requested to photograph only their own children to protect the privacy of others.

6. Reporting Concerns & Designated Safeguarding Lead

Whiztots Learning adheres to the Children First National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children.

If any parent, volunteer, or facilitator notices a child protection or welfare concern, or if a child discloses a concern:

Document the details accurately and factually.

Contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) immediately: Jade Reel.

The DSL will consult with statutory authorities (such as Tusla / An Garda Síochána) in accordance with Irish child

protection legislation.
